GREY'S ANATOMY - "Good Mourning" - "Grey's Anatomy" returns for its sixth season with a two-hour event on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. In the first hour, entitled "Good Mourning" (9:00-10:00 p.m.), the hospital staff is left to deal with the aftermath of George's passing. Hitting the staff hard, they all find unique ways to get through the various stages of grief. George's mom returns, faced with the difficult task of deciding what to do with his organs. In the second episode, entitled "Goodbye" (10:00-11:00 p.m.), time has passed... Everyone is struggling after losing one of their own and are turning to any distraction they can find. Meredith and Derek seem to be consummating their marriage anywhere and everywhere, while Cristina and Owen have been instructed to abstain from sex by Dr. Wyatt. We've kept our fingers crossed for George and Izzie to pull through, so we gasp when Izzie opens her eyes! She's alive! But we're devastated to learn that there's no hope for George, who is brain dead. George's mother is too upset to decide whether to donate his organs and asks Callie to make the call. Alex wants to keep the news from Izzie, but Callie tells him his wife will never forgive him if she doesn't get the chance to say goodbye. We burst into tears along with Izzie when she holds George's unresponsive hand. And we worry as her new husband, Alex, looks on jealously. She decides that George would "give everything," and we fight back tears  as a donor team stands by to whisk his organs away, especially when a very emotional Miranda demands to know the names and ages of all the recipients, who are all (*sniff*) children.

We're not surprised that George's friends deal with their grief in different ways. "Newlyweds" Meredith and Derek have sex all over the house, to the consternation of their housemates, who find them, naked, on the stairs! Derek throws the keys to his trailer to Alex and Izzie and tells them, "Welcome to your new home!"

Even though Georges character was slowly making his way off the show, he will be missed. I have recently watched all 5 seasons in the past month and as long as Meridith and McDreamy are in season 6, I will be an avid watcher (hahaha...I have to record them every week)!! I always thought that it would be a GREAT plot twist if Burke came back. I really love this show and it was so easy to get into. Yeah ABC!!!

I would like to say that I am really upset that George died.....I just recently got into the series and I watched all five seasons in about one month. I have grown very fond of George as a character on the show. I am going to watch season six episode one for George but I do not believe that I am going to watch the rest of the episodes after that. I would like to thank the writers for bringing George into character but again very sad to say that the good ones always die young. Also my daughter is very upset with his death and she states that because George is no longer alive that Dr. Burke should not be able to come back!!!!

What do you think? I agree with previous post, bring back Burke. George was awful after the first year or so. It was preposterous that Izzy would fall for him and I could not watch the show for at least a year after that. I watched the premier and will now watch every week. Bring back Burke!

YES ... Bring Back Burke .... he and Christina made such a great couple and he was not involved with all the dram that went on the show ... he is a great actor ... now that they have let LOSER GEORGE off the show, they should bring back Burke .. it will be interesting to see him and Christina interact after he left and had the article written about him .. ABC BRING BACK BURKE

i know how u feel i have been trying to watch it to. i wish abc would make all the episodes to where u could watch them. george was my favorite character on the show. since the show started i have loved it. i have just missed alot of it bc i work evenings. so i am hoping they will make it to where we can watch all of season 6.

lol you have to get season 5 to see George's death. You're nt doing anything wrong bt for some odd reason abc doesnt keep a lot of eppys up for you to watch. I've missed a lot of season 6 bc i havent been home to see the eppys so im far behind and i keep hoping that abc will put the eppys up from the beginning of season 6 and on bt no such luck. Bt honestly you're nt doing anything wrong its not you at all its just abc doesnt keep them up for long. their weird lol

to me it was not the fact that george died it was really how he died that i found sad not being hit by a bus and all it is the fact that he was in the very hospital he spend so much time at with his best freinds and not one of them knew it was him with the only person there by his side, a stranger i mean just thinking about how someone would feel if that was a real life event nakes me feel like crap and how would you feel if you where meredith finding out it was george when everyone had pretty much giving up hope on him or the rest of the people who had been bashing on him being canon foder all day long i mean wow it is sad on so many different levels i Have to say the writers did a good job spring it though i had watched an episode of season six where meredith said he got hit by a bus and it caught me by surprise he was the job they did on makeup was incredible he looked nothing and like himself and that is why i didnt see it coming in that episode

I started watching Greys Anatomy about a month ago. I just finished season 5 and have to say wow what a series. There are so many great moments throughout these series I couldn't pick just one. You become so attached to the characters you feel like you know them. You are cheering for them, laughing with them and crying with them when things go wrong. When George writes 007 in Merediths hand I had chills.It was so upsetting my daughter says "mom they are all right they are not real" while I know this as I just saw Katherin Heigl in a movie it is so sad and the characters make everything so real. George was not one of the main characters but his quirkiness and sense of justice and truth made him such an important character. I can't imagine the show without him. They lost someone very special. After watching all episodes from day one to now in such a short time I do have to say they had to do something dramatic. It is starting to get dull. They need a couple of really good characters to tie everyone together again. Losing Madison and Derek were tough times for Greys Anatomy. I will continue watching as I am now a fan but would like to see them spice some things up!

I just spent many....many hours catching up to the current season. I never watched the show before but started from Season 1 Episode 1 and loved every minute. I'm a bit upset though that I can't view the beginning of Season 6 either on line or On Demand. Can we get some quick re-runs or put the full season so far on the web site??? Pleeease?????

NOBODY CARES ABOUT GEORGE!! NOT THE PRODUCERS, NOT THE WRITERS, EVEN SOME FANS HATE HIM. HE WASNT REALLY DOING ANYTHING ON THE SHOW (LAST SEASON) AND HE STILL GOT PAID. Ok i can understand killing off Izzi but not 'George' He hasnt been in any big movies ...And yeah he hasnt had big parts lately ...But how is that his fault "The Writers are in charge of the lines correct. So any how I enjoyed George ...Why couldnt they have sent him off to the war and then maybe down the way when the writers came up with somthing good then they could have brought George back.... As it always goes these shows start going down the toilet and get canceled... I feel like this shows on the furge. Grrrrrrrrr.

George wanted to leave the show last season but they had a contract so he only did a few episodes enough to fufill his contract. It was George's choice not the writers.

I'm so sad for George, I really liked him, but he really didn't have a strong role this past season. Poor Izzie =[ it makes me so sad that she is sick and I thought it was really sweet that Meredith and Derek gave her their wedding. As far as Alex and Izzie, I hope that they make it but I seriously doubt it. I love this show it is awesome, it has made me go into the Surgical Technology career. Thank you ABC!!!!!

Hello, you know this is my favorite series from the beginning, I'm from Mexico and I'm 18. but what this series is dying to her about George I think it was good but if he died and had no interest in the series, finished with Lexie towers also only good if the child was clear we were accustomed to the ojala y Deny turned back as ay about Izzie thank God that they drew jaja I love it and I think we should return Burk the only problem was to return as George and is no longer able to return so he can fight for Owen and Cristina make the series more interesting and for the rest think it's excellent comment and happiness will follow a series so successful his number one fan ♥ ♥ Editzita

I loved the way the guys reacted at the cementery... Many people might find it offensive, but not everyone deals with grief the same way...I think it was appropriate because it reflected who they are and their relationship...At the end, they all accepted what had happen and showed that they miss George...

leave it to them to kill off the only decent one on the show. dont get me wrong... i love GA, but i thought that o'mally brought a bit of norm to the show. I love everyone's role but now with george gone... i think they r tryin to fill his shoes with lexie but.... i dont know.... i guess we'll have to c how that goes. i do however struggle with liking izzie. ever since she started messin around with george wen he was married... i havn't really cared much for her since then. Since she's on for the long haul... or at least this season i better get over it. i am in mourning for one of my favorite personas as wel...GEORGE!!!!!WHAAAAA!!!!! NOT GEORGE!!!!!!!!!

I thought George's storyline was pretty valid. He was the underdog who , despite setbacks, never gave up. He went out as a hero, and it took his death to make the people around him realize that he'd been the hero all along. I was sad to watch him die, but in the end it made for a powerful statement. Can't wait to see where this season takes us.

i have to say the whole show. it was nice to see the friends together after one of their friends die. I also liked the funeral it was nice to see them laughing and showing other clips from past shows how maranda and dereck was in the elevator and she stop it so he could cry t then he did the same thing to her so she can have a moment . I think it was good even though some people is complaining i still like the show it's just the begining so i'm looking forward to the next show tonight .

i am very sad that george was written and killed off the show. its hard to let go of characters that you have grown to know and love. last season they really gave him the short end of the stick, and then the way they killed him off made me miserable all summer. i am not liking how they are taking the izzie and alex marriage. and the der mer "post it" marriage. this season really needs to fill in the void of the loss of original crew. over the summer i watched the 1st season, and man i miss burke, han and george......and of course addison, in her own way. i hope they do more private practice and greys mergers this season. i love watching them all mix, it makes me really love both shows more!

I AM SICK!!!! ABC went OVER THE TOP with the baby with a severed arm scene. I am so upset. Been a fan since the first season and may just stop watching the show over this one. I was afraid that they would go too far with the children/pediatrics. MrsSunny

I think they should get rid of Izzie her character is so unrealistic and sooooooo annoying. She is very pretty but she is a extremely annoying character and does better in movies...!!!They are wasting time with her story in the show. The show needs some better main characters to follow plain and simple. Some are great and some totally suck. George was good. Christina and her guy are good. Meredith gets boring but still interesting.
